I just watched Gummo for the first time. Harmony Korine wrote and directed it. I started out on the couch, playing MW2 and watching the movie on my laptop. I wasn't really into the game, so I turned it off and moved to the kitchen. I finished off washing dishes from today. After I finished those and dumped out the water I realized I had forgotten a pot on the stove, of course. I watched the rest of the movie standing beside the counter with the laptop on the fridge. Near the end I sat on the counter for a bit.

I watched Interstella 5555 earlier today. I really liked the style of anime, especially the strange co-existence of the shorter, rounder people and the taller, sharper people. I'd love to watch a series, or even more movies in that style. I guess I could look for more works by Toei, the animation house who made it.

I also watched the second half of Time Bandits which I fell asleep watching last night. Not the best of Terry Gilliam's films, but still neat. He does love his miniatures.

Playing video games and watching a movie at the same time, not really paying attention to either. That's mostly what I've been feeling like since Laura left. I miss her, certainly, but it's only been two days. It seems that it took an immediate psychological toll on me. I guess Laura really grounds me and my world.

I haven't been eating properly. My throat has been burning for most of today.

I'm going to Ottawa on Friday. I've got a rideshare set up, the first one I've ever taken. I've got to get some change for $15 exactly, only one five and a bunch of 20s in the apartment right now. The driver's name is Magenta and she's perfectly bilingual. She also seems very strict about being on time.

Carolina will be taking care of the cats while we're gone, possibly sleeping over. We offered her our bed, but she preferred the couch. I wonder if it's weird to offer our bed (with clean sheets, of course). I suppose I can understand that someone else's bed is their domain, but I feel comfortable in other peoples' beds. Also bedrooms in general. My bedroom is also my office, but people seem so hesitant to come into the bedroom to see something.

I spoke with our ISP Tek Savvy again tonight. The Internet was on-and-off in five minute intervals or so for a few hours. I was trying to chat and Skype with Laura and it just wasn't working. The technician went through a list of possible problems and eventually narrowed it down to the modem. I'll try borrowing Alex Charlton's or maybe Jenn's to see if it works better. Or possibly bring mine over to Alex's, to see how it works for him. If that's not the problem, it may very well be issues with the interior lines, which is awful.

Alex bought the Advanced Squad Leader Starter Kit, a very complex WWII sim board game. It has an instruction manual like a textbook. I can't wait to play.
