Nook

Not long into the pandemic Marc, from Foko, realized a solution was needed for more clearly organizing meetings in the new world of hybrid work. Who’s coming in? Who’s calling in remotely? So he came up with Nook, a calendar app that coordinates where everyone is for any given meeting. He hired me to make an explainer video for the service.

I took the shape of the “O”s in the logo and played around with how they could move. I came up with a ticking motion for the logo itself, followed by a popping motion, like a timer going off. As a motif for transitions I took the O shape again and made a series of concentric rings that grow in and out, either in various colours or as a mask for the next shot.

Throughout the video I integrated visuals from the app into live action stock video, to connect the two worlds better and familiarize the viewer with the UI.
